And my first knitting project of the new year is a chemo hat for our nephew's young wife. She has stage 3 breast cancer. Sad news that is being met with a positive attitude and courage. Their children are one and three years old. They are in their early 30's---so young to have to face such a challenge. This simple pattern yields such a pretty hat. You can see a completed hat here that I had made for a friend quite a while ago. You can get the free pattern at http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/kpatt20.htmJoin Ginny at Small Things to see more projects and books.

That's so sad, I hope your hat cheers her up!
Enjoy your first book.
My First Book
I was just looking at Me Before You at the bookstore the other day. I will have to pick it up at some point.
So sorry to hear about your nephew's wife. Does she know much about using essential oils for cancer? There are some amazing results people have had using those!
I liked Me Before You and even more, her next book, The Girl You Left Behind. Enjoy the novel!

I hope your nephew's wife beats the cancer...love that knitted hat.
Me Before You was a wonderful book. Enjoy!
Oh goodness, I will keep this young woman in my thoughts and prayers.

You first book pick was a good one. I read it a few months ago. Just as a FYI, keep a box of Kleenex by your side when you read it. It is very sad in some parts but it is incredibly well written and very thought provoking.
What sad news, I do hope she likes the hat!
Me Before You was a wonderful read and a great reading start for 2014.
My prayers are with your nephew and his wife. So difficult at this young age.
ENJOY your book...you are so sweet to knit the hat for her.
Happy New Year!!

My First Book of The Year
I wish the best to your friend. I've read good things about your first book of 2014. Thanks for your visit today.
What a sweet thing to do for your niece-in-law! That must be so tough for your family.
I think reading and knitting seem to be about the only two good things to do with all this cold and snow!
