Child's Rib Scarf

I finished this 3x3 rib Crystal Palace Kid Merino scarf on size 4s for charity. It will certainly warm a child with its soft fuzziness. This is a make-it-up-as-I-go pattern.

The flared ends are created by the garter rows and a crocheted trim. I doubled this very fine gauge yarn to give it a little more heft.
Child's 3x3 Rib
Yarn, needles, and crochet hook of choice
CO 24 sts. (I prefer a knitted cast-on.)
Knit every row for 8 rows. ( 4 ribs garter stitch)
Row 1: Knit 3, purl 3.
Row 2: Purl 3, knit 3.
Continue the above 2 rows to desired length.
Knit every row for 8 rows. ( 4 ribs garter stitch)
Crochet Trim: Single crochet (sc) across to end, chain one, turn.
Chain one, dc one, chain 2, skip two stitches, dc one, chain 2. Continue to end.
End off.
Attach yarn to opposite end and repeat the crochet trim.
