Dogs-n-Books on Thursday

A Glance from Max
This is his happy face!

"This week’s question is suggested by Puss Reboots:
How much do reviews (good and bad) affect your choice of reading? If you see a bad review of a book you wanted to read, do you still read it? If you see a good review of a book you’re sure you won’t like, do you change your mind and give the book a try?"

Yes, to some extent I do choose books based upon reviews, particularly of an unfamiliar author. However, reviewers sometimes write points that are negative to them, but are attractive to me. So a negative review does not automatically cause me to pass on a particular title. If I am sure I won't enjoy a book, a review will not cause me to read that book.

How about you? What role do book reviews play in your selections?

ahhh, I love Max's face!
I bet he can get the entire face in one lick!

For the book reviews I will read a book regardless of the review but if it does not hold my intrest in the first 6 chapters then it goes.
Unless it is by one of my favorite authors then I am faithful through to the end of even badly written books.

Max is so cute! I miss having a big dog...Don't care about book reviews. If I'm told to read a book, then I read it. I don't typically care what others say. When you have a chance, come see the pups I posted - happy DOT :) (I also did WW, and see you did too, so on to that next.)

Max is gorgeous! LOVE his happy face :)
I'd never thought about the role book reviews play in the selection of what I read. I'd have to say "not a lot."

I found your amazon wish list if your initials are D.R. The only thing that concerns me now is that these books were added in October 2006. Please email me and let me know something. Thanks

It looks like Max was caught a bit off guard! As for book reviews (movies too), if I hear something is bad I'll usually try it out and make my own opinion about it. If something just doesn't look that appealing to me, even if it has awesome reviews, I still probably won't bother with it.
