Succinctly Yours #24

A school built by a  wood working class is still in use due to budget cuts in education. The practice project has seen students since 1940.

Using the photo as inspiration, write a story of 140 characters or 140 words.
It doesn’t have to be exactly 140, just not more. The added optional challenge is to use the word of the week in the story. Then post it here.

Yea Pooch! I was in the first class at that school.
It is now a model school for Texas education under our cost cutting education budget!

Yep, things were made to last in 1940! Of course, there's a limit on the longevity of a wooden cabin.

That reminded me of my first classroom when I went back to full-time teaching high school in 1995 when my kids were in high school. It was a 25-year-old portable that was disgusting inside, including low places in the floor, filthy, chewing-tobacco and gum-stained carpet, ratty paneling, and no way of communicating with the outside world (i.e., the office). And horribly- behaved students to boot. What a nightmare that 95-96 teaching experience was for me!

Oh, and I found out later that the portable classroom I'd been assigned to was not supposed to be used as a classroom any more, and yet they used it as such for one more year.

Haha! That may be where we're headed if things keep on as they are. Good job!

I hope our Government don't see this - it would give them ideas! LOL

A very timely mf in this cost cutting economy. There was talk of Memphis schools not starting on time this year, due to funding issues. Made me glad my granddaughter is homeschooled.

Nothing like a well made building! Perhaps my local school authorities could take a few cues and quit wasting money.

Oh my-this one hit close to home, even though I know it was a great exaggeration (maybe not that great-LOL!)

Hi Pooch! Love the schoolhouse.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate them as I go through the active part of this disease. I am keeping busy with my needlework and reading when I can.
